There are so many common misconceptions floating around about content repurposing, and as a Content Repurposing Creatrix, I hate to see it! Content repurposing is a solid and real content strategy that I love utilizing, and all my clients do too. If you have ever thought one of these things before about content repurposing and let it keep you from living a better biz babe life, then I’ve got a few myths I’m going to bust for you and change your mindset!

Content Repurposing Myth #1: “I Need to Have Years of Pre-created Content to Repurpose From”

Content repurposing is a strategy you can utilize no matter how long you have been creating content. As long as you are putting content out on just one platform, that can be repurposed! You can use that to repurpose onto different platforms and as inspiration to recreate new content from.

My Instagram has been around since January of 2020, but I wasn’t always consistent with posting. However, I can still repurpose posts from back then into new forms of content that I can use today for my blog, Instagram, and email list!

Content Repurposing Myth #2: “My Audience Will Know That I Repurposed This and Will Get Annoyed Seeing the Same Content Over and Over”

People's attention spans online are incredibly thin, so it actually works in your favor to make sure you're sending out your valuable message as many times as you can. Most of your audience isn't going to read all of your Instagram posts, watch all of your stories, and listen to every podcast episode you put out. Your audience isn't going to notice if a piece of content is repurposed, especially if you do it the right way!

If they don't tune into the podcast, maybe they'll see the blog. If they don't see the blog, maybe they'll see the Instagram post. Our dream clients are out there living their lives, and our message is just one tiny piece of what they may see in a day. And what if, on the slight chance, they do see every single thing you post? Research shows that it takes at least seven views for someone to take action on whatever it is you're sharing!

Content Repurposing Myth #3: “It’s Just a Transcription”

Although you can transcribe your audio and video content, that isn't where repurposing content starts and stops! Transcribing your content is just a basis to go off of and pick apart your pillar content into the different main points you need.

Repurposing isn't just transcribing and copying, and pasting. There is an art form and strategy behind it! What you would share and highlight on your blog will differ from what you would do on your podcast or your Instagram. Each platform has a different function, so you must keep that in mind when repurposing and stretching your content.

Content Repurposing Myth #4: “I Have to Have Video or Audio Content in Order to Repurpose”

While it is great to have video and audio content to repurpose, that’s not the only form of content you can repurpose. There is so much gold and value already worked into copy content that you have. What about your email newsletters, blogs, freebies, Facebook memories, workbooks, journal prompts, and so much more!

I’ve even repurposed content from books my clients have written and even copy they have on their website. As long as you have a juicy piece of pillar content to repurpose from, it doesn’t matter how you get it.
